Warm or Cold Light?

Warm or Cold Light?

In today’s world, we use lighting as more than just a way to alleviate darkness. The design, atmosphere and functionality created by light have become increasingly important. In the design of lighting and the effect it has on the decoration, the color temperature of the light plays a decisive role. It not only determines what your space looks like, but it also affects the way you and others feel.

The color temperature of light

When we talk about the color temperature of light, we are referring to the warmth and coolness of light. The warmest light appears yellow, while the coldest light is white / blue. The color temperature of light is classified on a scale known as the Kelvin scale. The warmer the color, the lower the temperature. For example, candles burn at a color temperature of about 2000 degrees Kelvin (k), which is orange / yellow, while daylight is usually around 5500 to 6500k, known as white daylight.
Warm light versus cold light. Where to use it ..
The color temperature of your light should be chosen depending on where and why you need it. This can be determined during the lighting design process. For example, warm light at around 2700 to 3000k is ideal for your home. The almost yellow glow helps to create a warm, comfortable and friendly atmosphere for you and your family to relax. However, this is not the best lighting option for productivity. The warm light creates a lot of contrast, which means that your eyes have to work to adjust, which becomes tedious. Therefore, for an office or other work environment, we recommend the use of cooler lighting between 4000 and 6000k.
